04 — THE ASSET

A TRADITIONAL OAK FOREST,  FIFTY-FIVE MINUTES NORTH OF LISBON.

Cōrtia sits within a 12,3-hectare traditional oak forest in Óbidos, a UNESCO Creative City of Literature. The oaks are protected and live beyond two hundred years. Less than 3% of the land will ever be built; the other 97% stays as it is.

FOREST

Deep silence, slow days, and the rhythm of the forest.

FOOD

A working farm, an open kitchen, and ingredients that travel only as far as the path.

ART

A small, considered programme of works and residencies woven through the estate.

Twenty-eight keys across fourteen villas. Low density, deep silence, a discreet kind of luxury. Designed by Studio JV, with landscape by OhLand.

Targeting BREEAM certification, with regeneration built into the operation from the ground up.

05 — THE EXPERIENCE

WHAT HAPPENS HERE.

GASTRONOMY

Cuisine is where Cōrtia begins.

Our Executive Chef trained under Nuno Mendes, Martín Berasategui and Albert Adrià. The restaurant seats one hundred and twenty, indoors and under the open sky. What reaches the table is grown a few steps away, and the menu turns with the seasons. A bar built around fire and ember, and a cellar devoted to Portuguese wine. Dining at Cōrtia is a destination in its own right, open to guests and visitors alike. A significant share of food and beverage revenue is expected to come from external diners, not hotel guests alone.

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Our Farm Manager leads a 2 000 m² organic garden, an orchard-forest, an apiary, and a small farm of chickens, sheep and goats. Around 60% of what we serve is grown or raised on our own land, and guests are welcome to take part.

ART & CULTURE

Óbidos is a UNESCO Creative City of Literature, home to opera, piano, and the FOLIO literary festival. Cōrtia belongs to this landscape, adding a contemporary voice through rotating artist residencies and a partnership with ESAD, an award-winning art school nearby.

WELLNESS

A treatment cabin in the woods, a sauna, a movement studio, and heated magnesium pools open year-round. A curated programme built on three rhythms: the physical, the creative and the contemplative. Wellbeing means returning to a natural rhythm.
